Where this began

Mission and Origins
AIECB did not begin with a standards document. It began with a scene that kept repeating.
In the space of a few years, AI changed how work is done, how students complete their homework, and how information
moves — at a speed that caught almost everyone unprepared. In classrooms we saw the same thing again and again:
teachers, parents and children standing before the same wave, knowing it mattered, not knowing where to begin.
Mission — In a time of rapid change, to give children and teachers a clear direction forward. We are committed to
AI education that benefits children and young people for the long term, supports cognitive development, and is
safe and compliant.
Three things we do
UAICS Certification — so that a child's growth has a path. Badges and certification exist to make growth visible — each level
with clear can-do statements, work that lasts, and an obvious next step.
UAICS Teacher Training and Certification — those who teach every day also need to be taught. UAICS teacher training is
organised around the four certification blocks, so that every teacher can find a growth path built on their existing strengths.
UAICS Institutional Training and Accreditation — AI education cannot be advanced by any single organisation. We welcome
institutions, schools and groups with a genuine educational mission to train and accredit as regional partners.

Support and Safeguarding
Before we talk about AI education, we want to talk honestly about risk.
Several countries have begun legislating to restrict children's use of social media and generative AI. We believe such
restrictions have their place. But we are equally clear that refusal is not a lasting answer. Walls can keep out products. They
cannot keep out an era.

Governance
A standard written for children deserves the strictest scrutiny. AIECB’s governance rests on three verifiable commitments:
Separation of standard and delivery — AIECB sets the standard, trains teachers and accredits institutions, but does not run courses. Delivery partners’ commercial activity is their own; the standard endorses no single provider.
Open revision — every revision is proposed as an itemised revision list, resolved by the Board, and published with a full change record and code concordance. We publish our revision history rather than hide it: withstanding scrutiny matters more than appearing perfect.
Published criteria — whether a knowledge point enters formal assessment is decided by three published criteria (construct stability, assessment validity, framework traceability), not case-by-case discretion.
Revisions run on a three-year full review cycle, with minor releases in between. The Board is currently convening external members from AI education, learning science and psychometrics; names and declarations of interest will be published here once constituted.

On the freezing of UAICS v9.1 and the launch of teacher training
The AI Education & Certification Board froze UAICS v9.1 — the standard’s first public release — in July 2026, with the full text published on this site from that date. UAICS teacher training opened on the same day. Work on the Assessment Specifications and the pilot proceeds according to the Development Roadmap, with progress announced on this site.
